We headed south to the capitol city, by bus. It took 2 hours to get there. We arrived into the chaos with no where to stay. After an unsuccessful auto drive Rob sat me down in a restaurant for a cup of chai, as he ran around looking for a cheap hotel. I befriended a woman, Christine from Nelson BC. She had been to India many times. She said she knew of some cheap hotels just a few blocks away. So I followed her past the train and bus stations to a small street. We found a hotel for $16. A night. Clean and good enough for a night. Everyone here wears pflip flops or sandals and the roads and sidewalks are like a construction site. But everyone has a cell phone.
In the morning we went for a walk and then I remembered we had passed a place called the indian coffee house. A ramp spirals up inside.
It is a cylinder that winds up and all the booths are on the outside, with wash stations on every level. Rob tried a few local breakfast items. I stuck to toast and tea.
These are the waiters.
This is the area on either side the coffee house.
